EcoGerm Starter is an innovative bacterial starter for ornamental and other types of ponds. It contains a very high concentration of selected natural strains of autotrophic bacteria. This mixture immediately activates biological life in filters and other filtration zones, which ensures the biological balance in the water reservoir. It contains bacteria that quickly oxidizes ammonium, ammonia, and nitrites. Recommended for water reservoirs with heavy biological loads, in particular those with Koi. One gram contains over a billion active microorganisms.

Application method: spread in a filter or over the water surface. Use 100 g of the mixture for every 10,000 liters of water. The mixture can be used if the water temperature in the reservoir exceeds 8° C. Turn off any UVC lamps before applying the agent. UVC lamps can be turned on again after a few days.

The task of microorganisms introduced into an aquatic environment is to rapidly initiate the oxygen respiration processes, and to degrade and mineralize organic pollutants.
EcoGerm Starter builds or supports the naturally occurring bacterial microflora, actinomycetes, and water micro-fungi in the restoration of water self-purification processes that have been disrupted.
Organic compounds contaminating the water are enzymatically degraded to simple substances and approx. 90% mineralized by respiration to carbon dioxide and mineral salts.
The resulting mineral, organic nitrogen, and phosphorus products are partially used for the production of microbial biomass, which in turn becomes food for bacteria eating animal organisms.

What is the correct method for using a bacterial starter in a pond?
Nitrifying bacteria Nitrosomonas (ammonia oxidants) and Nitrobacter (nitrite oxidants) are autotrophic bacteria with limited tolerance to water pH, temperature, salinity, oxygenation, and chemicals. Nitrification will not occur if the dissolved oxygen concentration in the water drops to 2.0 mg/l (ppm). The optimal growth temperature for nitrifying bacteria is 25° C, at 8° C the bacterial growth rate is reduced by 75%, and at 0° C the bacteria die. The optimal pH range for Nitrosomonas is 7.8 to 8.0. The optimal pH range for Nitrobacter is 7.3 to 7.5. At pH levels below 7.0, Nitrosomonas will grow more slowly and the ammonia level in the reservoir may increase. Nitrosomonas growth is inhibited at pH 6.5. Nitrification is completely inhibited if the pH drops to 6.0. Nitrifying bacteria for ponds will grow in water with a salinity not greater than 1.0038 specific gravity, and will die if anti-algae agents containing biocides are used. Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter will also die if subject to UV radiation and chlorine, so before the application of starter bacteria, the chlorine and chloramines should be completely neutralized with our PondStarter product and UVC lamps, should be turned off before application and not turned on again for a minimum of 48 hours.
